IT'S TIME FOR A BELFAST-BERLIN AIR LINK
LET'S GET TOGETHER: Northern Ireland's top tourist attraction Titanic Belfast and, below, Berlin's Brandenburg Gate. There is no direct air link between the two cities |
Belfast and Berlin have much more in common than beginning with B. Both are capital cities and popular visitor destinations that offer a wealth of attractions and great hotels, restaurants and bars.
Berliners love spending time in Belfast, and vice versa. But despite the citizens of each place sharing an admiration for — and a wish to visit — the other, there is no direct air link between the two.
My actor pal Gordon Fulton who visits Berlin regularly would like to see this change, and so would I. That’s why I’m asking my travel blog readers, Facebook and Twitter friends and travel industry contacts to lend their names to a little bit of lobbying.
If you would like to see an airline — it doesn’t matter which one — operating a direct link between Belfast and Berlin instead of travellers from each city having to go via Dublin or the UK, please register your interest by leaving a supportive comment here. Thank you.
